I have lived in Bar. Lt. since 1967. This is the first time I have visited your site and it's almost as awesome as OLE Barney and the Inlet. The weakfish at the light in summer are the best. The fishing buddies are worth the energy and time to meet at the light around 9 PM on.....

This is a great site! Pikiemike (aka Mike Fixter) told me about it and he was absolutely right... There is plenty of good information, an abundance of new ideas and more than a few characters. It would be nice to hear more about the west coast. I fish in the surf exclusively and almost always at night. I too am searching for that elusive 40 pounder but wouldn't pass up a 50 if it got fooled by one of Pikiemike's lures.

Your site is definitely a must see. You have some really great tips. So here is your free tip, and a most precious one at that, to stripers in s.c. Down in the good ole town of Columbia south Carolina, we have an amazing find. Cold cold water flowing from the lake Murray dam flows down the Saluda river. this habitat is an immense trout haven due to the depth of the lake it self. the water in the lower Saluda is bone chilling cold even in the 115 degree heat you can hypothermia and drown very quickly. But if you can brave the sunset and coming nightfall you can experience the best fishing in the whole state. I have been fishing for stripers for 8 years. I have caught and released more than 40 stripers in one night, only keeping 4 instead of the 5 limit on striper( please check local laws and adhere to them, they are declining very fast). My best night and season was last year. On one night I caught over 86 stripers all but 4 were over the 21 inch keeper limit most ranging from 12 to 25lbs. My shoulders and arms hurt so bad I couldn't fish for a week. All of this thanks to bombers lures(trout,6 or 7 inch, three treble hooks). They have to be fished very very slowly through the end of usually any tailrace. It is the most explosive fishing I have ever had. So come between April and June when the run is on and find out what real fishing is all about.

Hello all, I found this page from a friend of mine from Texas- Jack Moncrief aka Walkin Jack, He said it would do me a lot of good to look around here as often as possible! I just moved here from Texas and plan on fishing the area as much as possible. Even though I think that I will have to relearn about fishing in this area, so I hope to gather all the information I can. Thanks for letting me hang around with you guys!

I'm glad I found your website, just retired and getting back to fishing. I've done mostly freshwater for the last 20 years, but after a real productive "rock" fishing trip this fall in the Chesapeake, I've got the bug. Just bought a 19ft. Century center console w/Yamaha 115HP so I'm ready to chase them! I'm also anxious to get back into some surf fishing, have only caught blues before but will be trying to learn all I can about stripers in the surf.

Keep up the good work, it looks like a lot of it too!

Tim-. site looks great, has a lot of great links, but I don't see one for a highly experienced, very reputable local taxidermist. I have just about completed my new web site (or should say Chris has) and was interested in possible exchanging links. Give me a call or e-mail me at allgametax@aol.com. If you get a chance take a look at my site and tell me what you think. Hope to talk with you soon, Carl

I like the info provided. I am a transplant from Ohio. All my life has been spent on large mouth and crappie and then up north for walleye. since moving here I have been experimenting with surf fishing. This has produced so blues and lots of skate. My question is; is there much to be caught in the winter, other than a cold? Broadkill and three R's are the beaches I fish. Please, any suggestions would be a great help.

Tim:

Unbelievable but true- here in Cola town a group of us use much the same tactics and tackle as y'all do to plug for stripers within the city limits. I can leave my house and be on the water within fifteen minutes, waders on and casting. The fish are schoolies, 6-10 lbs on average, with one or two over 20 per year, but they're there and hungry. I have been perusing your board for several weeks now and am looking forward to applying what I have learned to the river this spring.

Happy New Year, May 2001 bring many hard tugs on your lines and slobs on the hook at your favorite rock. And the more we release, the better chance at a large on the next trip to the surf. Excellent site Tim , I have learned so much from all the experts here. I am looking forward to learning more. Keep up the good work, and get some sleep sometime!
