Cool site - I'm from eastern LI and have been looking for a good "local" site. Tackle is packed away for the winter though (call me a wimp) I'm planning on buying a Neptune for next season though. Matt

Matt, I won't call you a wimp...my buddy Charlie's packed up as well! :) Eastern LI...I'll be out that way next year, never been, but I understand you guys got a good showing of LARGE out that way...when the LARGE call, I'll come runnin'!

Hi Tim, great site, very informative and fun to read. I enjoy fishing in the summer months in South Jersey but I am now very interested after reading your articles in striper fishing. I'll continue to read your site an educate myself with the methods and tackle you use to learn how to fish for stripers. Best of luck with your new site, its a winner!! Bob Ervin, Broomall, Pa.

Bob, thanks for the encouraging words, I'm glad you found something here to entertain yourself and possibly even learn from. There's a lot of year of surf pounding around this site, and they are all more than willing to help you unravel the mysteries...myself included! Thanks for stopping by!

Tim, I stumbled upon your site yesterday... and wished I had found it earlier. Great content and nice writing style. Even though I'm on the other side of the world, and we don't have stripers, I can identify with just about everything. Really have enjoyed reading the archives - still have to finish reading December, but I will need some more time.

I wish you all the best for the site.

Cheers,

Graeme in New Zealand

Graeme, New Zealand...boy, that's a place I'd like to have a go at! I'm glad you found the site interesting, it's still in it's infancy, but it'll get there....soon I hope! :) Thanks for stopping by, make yourself at home! Hey, if you got any pictures of your fish over there, I'd love to set up a whole section for our "removed" fishing brethren...send 'em over!

SirGrimloc, it's certainly nice to see an old friend here! You run away to VA, you better stop by here once in a while...and I'm still looking for the 'yak!! :)

Great site Tim and thanks for all the help in the past. I just finished printing out your website and look forward to reading it on the train. Sebastian, NY email tawka1@aol.com

Sebastian, that's dedication, printing out the entire site for perusal...it is good use of your train time however! Way to use the old noodle! Look forward to seeing you around.

Hi Ron, I'm glad you like the site, it's good to have "the bearing guy" right here to bounce my silly questions off regarding all these reels!

Hi Tim,

I want to wish you and your wife a very Happy New Year. Good luck on the great web page and may the next year be your best Striper fishing year yet. Maybe I'll get to meet you some day while surf fishing on the Jersey beaches.

Augie

RVTA WEB Page http://www.crisp.net/home/augustin/rvta.html

Hi Augie, it's good to see you! I look forward to harassing your trout up there at RV this winter...that's if the stripers ever pack up and get outta here! And yes, we will hook up on the beaches next year, I promise!

Tim,

Looks good. I like your second page of pictures. She is quite a catch. Remember that, even when you are driving home at 11pm from that party.

God bless,

Peter

Peter, she is my pride and my joy, I remember that each day when I am greeted with her warm smile. The drive was a little rough, all the sleeping in the truck was making me a little tired! :) Thanks for stopping by! I thought this was a different Peter until I asked Carole. Around here, you'd either be Peter from PA, or maybe PeterN :) Say hi to Mary and to your wonderful children. Take care, Merry Christmas, and God bless you guys, too!

Tim, its Patrick, you know "JettyJockey", the one you hate. Looks like I had you figured out all wrong. I think we got off to a bad start. If you and the other fellas on the sites are willing to start over, or at least forgive me, I'm willing to be kinder and have an open mind. You have a nice site here. I had a few sites but I took them down because of a bunch of computer crashes, but none of them were as nice as this one. I like the jigs too. Prices aren't too steep either. So if you would think about it with your chums, please let me know by posting on the WMI, your site, or dropping me a line @ JettyJockey@aol.com.

Thanks Patrick

Patrick, hate's a pretty strong word, I hate more things than I do people. You have been a handful in each of the places we've run into each other, that I'll admit. I will give you exactly the same number of chances that everyone gets to have some respect for themselves and for the others here, one. I don't mind lively debate, I love it...it saddens me to see people disrespect themselves and others by getting into name calling and threat making. That's the only rule here, respect each other. If you can't agree with someone, ignore them. It's tough when people feel as passionately about something as we surf fishermen do, but somehow, we always seem to manage! You're more than welcome to visit/hang/post here, like I told you in my e-mail last week, you are as entitled and as welcome here as the next guy...of course, I will be watching you like a hawk in the beginning :) I am hoping that each of the other guys here will give you the same courtesy of a clean slate that I am, you burned a lot of bridges in the past...many of the guys that are here I know personally and don't think any one of them is beyond giving you a clean slate...how you handle it is up to you.

Tim, I don't know if this would be different then the other fishing sites (all though I do like a site that is dedicated to stripers and from NJ), I enjoy reading the detailed stories. I mean the goofy things that happen, like when I stop in at 7-11 at 3 am with my waders on to fill my thermos up with coffee and someone asks if I'm going fishing and I say " no bowling" and laugh at the look on there face. Also when giving reports be sure to list what lures/flies didn't work. And as you can probably tell I would love to have a spell check on the site if possible. Are you interested in reports?

This it for now, when I think of anything that can help I'll be sure to drop a line to you.

Good luck with the site,

Ed J

Ed, it might not be very different just yet, but it's still only 5 weeks old, and I started with nothing, just some excellent flies, teasers, and jigs that I knew a lot of guys would catch loads of fish with...and a passion for striper fishing matched by only a handful of people...and the desire to share both of those with the rest of the world. It will be very different, I fish harder than most guys, about 200 striper trips per year, and I catch far more than my share...without ever using bait...so I must have something to share! :)) This will never be a web site where others reports make up the "report" section, hell, this whole site will be a giant, living report..so long as God's willing to keep me fishing, I'll keep sharing. You won't find facts adulterated with commercialism, everything I tell you will be the truth, anything I report here from others will be as they stated, I won't change their reports to pretend that they caught the fish on my stuff...if they did, I'll tell you that...if they didn't, you'll know that as well. I'm certainly hoping that these things, combined with the fact that I have many friends across the country who probably have forgotten more about fishing than I know who will hopefully be contributing as well. I'd love to hear your stories, as a fellow neoprene jockey in the 7-11's all hours of the night, I can certainly relate! I love stories...like the time I had my Explorer parked at the boardwalk, cooler rack on the front, 6 outfits in the rod holders...and a guy and his lady walked over, pointed to the rack (holding a cooler and 6 rods remember!) and actually asked me what it was used for!?!? Sometimes I wonder how these folks remember where they live! If you ever have any reports, you can post them either in my forum, Surf Talk, or you can e-mail them to me and I'll put them up there. I was going to have an interactive report page, but the would be redundant with the board now working! Thanks for stopping by, sorry for the lengthy reply, unique might not be where this site's at, but it's where it's heading :)

I really enjoy the site. Especially the daily updates of what your catching. I know you don't want to be too specific, but more details would help. I think a message board would also be a positive step. I also love the definitions

I am glad you enjoy the site! Damn, I thought I was doing better on the details! :) Is this some kind of conspiracy...little by little, different guys telling me "more details" until I crack?!? ::)) I really do try to be specific, it's really not that an exact location would do anyone any good, we catch fish where we are comfortable...if I were to point you to a specific rock or hole, it would only limit the amount of moving around that you should be doing, thus limiting your chances for success. By being somewhat general, many things are accomplished. It's keep crowds from forming, keeps you moving but in an area that has fish in it, and it keeps my friends from cutting off my fingers so as to keep my from sending people to their comfortable spots...in all three of those scenarios, it's best that I leave out the exact locations...and they change every trip! I'm as guilty as the next guy, I will sometimes beat a place to death rather than move around. If I know the general area where someone is scoring, I'll work the whole area, covering lots of water, and my chances of connecting will go up. I'm really not trying to hold anything back, the fish move around a lot, and odds are if they are in one certain hole, they are probably in similar holes throughout an entire county...or state even! Best bet, glean what you can from my vagaries, and move around a bit while fishing, you'll find them! Thanks for the input, I'm always trying to make it better here! Also, check out the new bulletin board for this site, it's called Surf Talk...there you can post questions and have lots of guys, many far more knowledgeable than I , answer your questions!

Tim: Just found your web site. There are not a lot of surf fishing sites and for us poor slugs who do not have a boat or 4 wheel drive it's encouraging to read your exploits. After 20 years of just working this is my first year back to fishing and I have so much to learn. I have made several trips to LNI and Brigantine in search of strippers and often come home empty so when I read your tales I once again load up and travel from Medford to the shore to stomp the Barnegat Inlet and the sand. Keep posting and any hints for the novice are greatly appreciated. Ed R

Ed, thanks for the encouragement! Glad to hear your fishing, one of the joys of life all people should enjoy. As for your search for "strippers", it's wise of you to look for them far from home, that way no one will recognize you in the go-go bars that the strippers frequent! ::)) Please excuse my attempt at humor, I couldn't resist! I just fell in love with the LBI area this fall, I am learning it better on each trip. I'll share those findings as they happen! As for hints for beginners....be careful, enjoy not only the catching but the fishing, don't litter, respect others property when you are on it, look around and enjoy everything while you're outside, smell the roses, don't crowd others, don't be afraid to ask or answer questions about fishing, fish slow, fish at night, carry a neck light and spare batteries, wear Korkers, keep a towel and a change of clothes in your car, carry a water bottle, sharpen your hooks religiously, learn good knots, and the most important, don't mistakenly stick your fingers in a blue fish's mouth! :) Really, striper fishing can be as simple or difficult as we each so choose, that's what makes it great! You follow the few basics above and you'll enjoy your time out there more, and probably catch more critters while doing it! This winter, as I suffer the dreaded cabin fever, I will write numerous articles, both for this site and one that is debuting soon...and I will write a very thorough one on getting started. Thanks for stopping by, come again!

Tim, Great job on your site, I look forward to reading it daily, its nice to see some good people in this business as we have seen on other sites that this is not always the case. Perhaps the only thing missing is a site expert to give commentary, I think Jetty Jockey might be willing if Bob lets him :) .

Steve...actually, until I bumped into you last night, I was wondering who posted this...I should have known...one reference to clam tossing and tourism and I would have had it! :) Nice to see you again last night, always a pleasure to fish with you.

Thanks for turning my striper fishing around. That is a priceless gift that I'll always be grateful for. Best of luck with your site, and with the pursuit of unicorns.

Hey Tim, just checking out the page looking for new and exciting updates including the hand warmer of the day!!! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get out there with you. Dubs

Dubs...imagine, catching you snooping around my site :) Actually folks, this is Charlie, he's my other other half...usually, we're out there together, every night, harassing those poor unicorns...educating a few of them, a few of them educating us. He's a good friend...and a rabid handwarmer fan! Dubs, did you show your dad how to check out the handwarmers on his new PC?!?!? I think he'll like them as well :)

Your site looks good, Tim. I don't know why it took so long for me to sign your guestbook. I've been checking your site daily since you started it. I'm still waiting for the mailman to deliver those teasers I ordered from you. They look great on the screen and I can't wait to try them. Arne P.

Arne, thanks for the nice e-mail on the teasers, glad you got them! And thanks for the picture, your page is up now and I'm looking forward to some more pictures with your new teasers :)

Hi Tim, Checking out the site and am impressed. It was nice to see some of the photos of the people who post over at the wmi surf fishing board like MikeP and others. I used to post regularly over there, but I haven't posted much in the past year. My wife and I had a baby girl about a year ago and she has really consumed my time. I do check in on the message board every once in awhile. I saw your link today and thought I'd visit your site. Will try to post something over there before long, even though I don't see many posts from Florida. Tight lines, Andy Griffith aka 'Griff'

Griff, belated congratulations on the baby girl! I remember seeing your name a lot when I first found WMI, about a year ago...it's good to see you back again! Thanks for stopping by and for the positive comments, it's always good to see an old friend!
