- Lex A40 Swimmer - Modeled after one of the most famous big fish plugs that ever was, these are serious hunks of wood. This one is a big fella for you guys that subscribe to the "big wood, big fish" theory....and with the herring, shad, and bunker around, this is certainly a good time to put that theory to the test! We've weighed them
at 3 oz and they cast very well. They swim beautifully in the surf as
well as in a decent current....we were quite impressed with the way it
fished. Wait till the fish get a look at these big hunks of lovely ;-) Throw
these anywhere you suspect there are big fish or the present fish are feeding on
big baits. Fish them painfully slow. If you see a fish grab the plug, which
often happens, resist the burning urge to swing for the fence! Instead, continue
reeling until you actually feel the fish on the line - then swing for the
fence. Good imitation of adult bunker, herring, sea herring, immature weakfish,
big snappers, hickory shad, squid, whiting, harbor pollock and just about any of
the bigger baits found on the striper coast :-) Keep your hooks sharp, kill only
what you can use, and carefully release the rest. The striped bass has never
been under so much commercial and recreational fishing pressure - let's lead by
example and let some big fish go
Solid construction, 3X Mustad hooks, through wired, heavy Rosco swivels, and multiple coats of primers, paints, and sealant - weighted in the rear so they don't tumble when you cast - these things are built to get out there and stand up to whatever you can stick with 'em! Approx 7 1/4" and 3oz |
| Available
only through this site with an optional matching 6/0 Siwash tail hook instead of the tail treble
hook! For instance, your schoolbus plug could come with a hand tied black
over yellow tail hook on the back instead of the stock 3/0 Mustad treble
