Gibbs Polaris Popper - Now we offer the 1oz, 1 1/2oz, and 2 1/2oz Polaris Poppers! The 1oz Polaris Popper is ideal for imitating smaller baits like peanuts, finger mullet, even spearing and snappers! They are only about 4" long and have a more narrow profile than the bigger Polaris Poppers. Deadly for back bays and quite or calm waters. Gibb's made the original Polaris Popper...there have been others who have made nice Polaris "style" poppers since then...but some folks just won't let me rest until they can get the original Polaris here! So, far be it from me to disappoint the masses, here ya go! One unique thing about the Gibb's Polaris is that it will actually swim when retrieved...something the others haven't quite nailed down...yet! ;-) They come with two treble hooks, the rear one dressed in white bucktail. They make a bunch of sizes, but for now, we'll offer the most popular one, the 1 1/2oz size (I'm cheap ;-) If there's suitable demand, we'll get the other sizes here, but this is the only size Polaris I've ever used and figure it ought to cover plenty of bases...if not, I'll get the others! I've always believed that poppers were poppers...that is until I watched an older guy last year catch sizeable fish after sizeable fish on a yellow 1 1/2oz Gibb's Polaris...while I had fish boil and chase but not eat what I was throwing! I'm a quick learner...it won't happen again, I assure you. It seems you need to carry a well stocked jetty bag these days, you just never know exactly what the fish will be thinking the next time you find them...that's part of their plan, keep us anglers guessing! The Polaris is best fished in a slower pop - stop - gurgle - pop type fashion. If you get it really smokin' on top, you'll only draw hits from aggressive little stripers and nasty razor lipped bluefish...if you want the big ones, you need to get their attention! Pop - stop - gurgle - pop and once in a while, just reel it in steady and slow so it pushes a big wake and wiggles slightly side to side. And keep your hooks sharp...always keep your hooks sharp! |
