| - Trilene Big Game Mono - OK, even I'll admit that there is a time for mono....maybe two times! The first time that even the most devout braid user will want some good old fashion mono - bait fishing. Yup, bait fishing from the beach with braid is not a real good proposition...the water drags on the line and the lack of stretch will uproot even the heaviest sinkers. I found mono to be the only answer while fishing peelurs this past summer...and found it important again while fishing live eels recently. Braid may be the answer to 75% of all fishing situations for me, but I'm starting to realize that there is certainly a time/place for mono. I've even found that plugging is quite enjoyable with mono...something kinda "back to nature" about fighting a fish with mono! Possibly the most popular monofilament line used by surf fishermen in the northeast, Trilene Big Game is tough! The folks that continue to use this line rely on it night after night to resist abrasion, hold strong knots, and land big fish. If you still don't use braided line, this is one of your best alternatives. Among the "mono holdouts" who sometimes still use braid, the illustrious Ditch Jigger, among others, chooses Big Game! |
