Directions to the 2003 Fall Fling!
We'll be meeting at 2pm on Saturday November 15th in the Oak Beach Inn parking lot!

Here goes. From the Verrazano Bridge, take the Belt Parkway (no commercial tags, alternate directions to follow) until it turns into the Southern State Parkway...about 15 miles. Follow Southern State Parkway to exit 40, Robert Moses Parkway...follow towards Robert Moses State Park. Stay on Robert Moses Pkwy until you go over the second Bridge (small draw bridge) get off on Ocean Parkway (Jones Beach) headed west. Oak Beach Inn will be on your left (south side) but to get there, you'll have to pass it and then take the median cross over to come back to it (that's a U-turn for us non-Long Islanders ;-)  Oak Beach Inn has a giant open parking lot...just watch out if Alberto is giving fly casting lessons - he tried to subdue an entire school are Harley dudes last year - it was ugly! ;-)

If you have commercial tags, you'll take the Verrazano Bridge to the BQE (Brooklyn/Queens Expressway) and follow that to 495E (Long Island Expressway.) The exit off the LIE (495) is 53 South - Saktikos Parkway. Get over to your right as soon as you get to exit 52 or you'll probably pass it. The sign will say Ocean Beaches - South. Take Saktikos Parkway to the end. Stay to the right when the pkwy forks - you're now on Southern State Parkway headed west. Stay to the right and get off at exit 40 - Robert Moses Parkway - Ocean Beaches and then follow the directions above to the Oak Beach Inn.

Now some of you are probably wondering how to get to the Verrazano Bridge, aren't ya? ;-) The simplest way is to take the NJ Turnpike to the exit for 278/Goethal's Bridge...I believe it's 13...but don't quote me ;-) Cross the Goethal's and continue east and it will take you straight to the Verrazano Bridge....from there, follow the directions above. **Now if you are coming from the extreme north, like CT or further, you can come down through NY instead of following these directions. Take 95 south to 295 south to 495 east (LIE).

If anyone finds anything incorrect about these directions...hey, I'm human and I don't live on Lawn Guyland, just shoot me an email and I'll rectify said error promptly! ;-)
